Tips for Exploring Kanazawa
東京を早朝に出発し、サービスエリアでのんびり食事を楽しみながら向かった初めての金沢弾丸ツアー。中央道を北西へ走り、途中の飛騨高山では昼過ぎに名物・飛騨牛の寿司を堪能。続いて白川郷へ向かいましたが、駐車場が17時に閉まるため観光は駆け足に。
日が暮れる頃にはようやく金沢市内へ到着しました。
帰路は南西へ下り、越前和紙の産地・越前町や、メガネの産地・鯖江市を経由。さらに荒川修作とマドリン・ギンズによる体験型アート庭園「養老天命反転地」にも立ち寄り、人間の感覚を揺さぶるユニークな空間を体験しました。その後、東名高速を北上し、東京へ帰還。
今回は金沢旅行の初心者目線ではありますが、実際に訪れて出会ったおすすめのグルメをいくつか紹介したいと思います。
We set out from Tokyo early in the morning for our very first whirlwind trip to Kanazawa, enjoying relaxed meals at service areas along the way. Driving northwest on the Chuo Expressway, we stopped in Hida-Takayama around noon to savor the local specialty, Hida beef sushi. We then headed to Shirakawa-go, but since the parking lot closed at 5:00 PM, our visit was rather rushed. By the time the sun had set, we finally arrived in Kanazawa city.
On the return journey, we drove southwest through Echizen Town, famous for Echizen washi paper, and Sabae City, known as the hub of eyeglass production. We also stopped by the experiential art garden “Yoro Tenmei Hantenchi,” created by artist Arakawa Shusaku and poet Madeline Gins, where we experienced a unique space designed to challenge human perception and balance. After that, we took the Tomei Expressway back north and returned to Tokyo.
Although this was only a beginner’s trip to Kanazawa, I would like to introduce some of the local gourmet discoveries we encountered along the way.
八十八
八十八は、金沢市内の武家屋敷エリア入り口に佇む飲食店で、地元の旬の食材を生かした料理を味わいながら、昔ながらの佇まいが残る落ち着いた空間で歴史と風情を感じられる、街歩きの途中にも立ち寄りやすい金沢ならではの魅力を堪能できる場所です。

おでん赤玉
創業昭和2年の老舗として、長年地元の人々や観光客に親しまれてきた歴史があります。
出汁は醤油を使わず、昆布と煮干しを丁寧に煮出して素材の味を生かした優しい味わいが特徴です。
金沢ならではの具材を楽しめるのも魅力で、特に「蓮根団子」はおすすめの一品！！
店舗は片町の繁華街にあり、観光の途中でも立ち寄りやすく、昼から利用できる点も便利です。
歴史、味、食材、立地のすべてで「金沢らしさ」を味わえる名店といえます。
Kanazawa Oden Akadama
Founded in 1927, Akadama is a long-established oden restaurant that has been loved by locals and visitors alike for generations. Its broth is distinctive for not using soy sauce, instead carefully simmering kombu and dried sardines to create a gentle flavor that brings out the best of each ingredient. A highlight is the uniquely Kanazawa specialty “lotus root dumpling,” highly recommended among the many local offerings. Conveniently located in the bustling Katamachi district, the restaurant is easy to stop by even during sightseeing and is open from midday. With its history, flavor, ingredients, and location, Akadama truly embodies the taste and spirit of Kanazawa.
海月が雲になる日
海月が雲になる日は、金沢の武家屋敷が並ぶ昔ながらの街並みにひっそりと佇む、予約制の特別な一軒です。日本の伝統家屋を舞台に、本格的なタイ料理を味わえるというユニークさが大きな魅力となっています。さらに、料理だけでなく、盛り付けや器にもこだわりが感じられ、季節感を大切にした演出が訪れる人の五感を楽しませてくれます。落ち着いた雰囲気の中で、非日常的なひとときを過ごせる点も、この店ならではの魅力です。
Kurage ga Kumo ni Naru Hi
Kurage ga Kumo ni Naru Hi is a reservation-only restaurant quietly nestled among the traditional streets lined with samurai residences in Kanazawa. One of its greatest charms lies in the unique experience of savoring authentic Thai cuisine within the setting of a traditional Japanese house. Beyond the flavors, the restaurant pays special attention to presentation and tableware, with seasonal touches that delight all five senses. The serene atmosphere further enhances the experience, offering guests an extraordinary moment of escape from the everyday.
ひらみぱん
ひらみぱんは、長町武家屋敷エリア近くの「せせらぎ通り」に佇むパン屋兼ビストロで、自家製パンは素材選びや仕込みにこだわり、カヌレやハード系パンなどが人気です。さらに、モーニングやランチも提供しており、少し遅めに起きた日のブランチや、ちょっと贅沢な時間を過ごすのにぴったりの場所です。
Hiramipan
Hiramipan is a bakery and bistro nestled along Seseragi Street near the Nagamachi Samurai District. Known for its carefully crafted house-made breads, it is especially popular for items such as canelés and rustic, hearty loaves. In addition to its bakery, the bistro offers morning and lunch menus, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely brunch or a slightly indulgent meal. With its relaxed atmosphere and dedication to quality, Hiramipan is a charming place to enjoy both artisanal bread and thoughtfully prepared dishes in Kanazawa.
金のこって牛
飛騨高山の「金のこって牛」では、名物の飛騨牛を使った和牛寿司が堪能でき、その味はまさに絶品で、100％食べる価値あり！今回は金沢への道中に立ち寄っただけでしたが、2〜3泊してゆったりと滞在すれば、より贅沢で特別な時間を過ごすことができます。
また、飛騨高山の魅力は、江戸時代の面影を色濃く残す「古い町並（さんまち通り）」や活気あふれる朝市、飛騨の里といった歴史文化を感じられる観光スポットの多さにあります。さらに、飛騨牛を中心とした郷土料理や伝統工芸、四季折々の自然美も訪れる人を惹きつけます。
アクセスも良好で、名古屋から特急「ひだ」で約2時間半、富山や松本からは直行バスで、金沢からも車で約2時間半と便利です。歴史ある町並みと極上の飛騨牛グルメを楽しむには、通過点ではなくじっくり滞在する価値のある観光地といえるでしょう。
Kin no Kotteushi
At “Kin no Kotteushi” in Hida Takayama, you can savor the famous wagyu sushi made with premium Hida beef—an absolute delicacy and 100% worth trying. This time, it was only a short stop on the way to Kanazawa, but spending two or three nights here would allow for a far more luxurious and memorable stay.
Hida Takayama itself offers countless attractions: the well-preserved Edo-period streets of Sanmachi, lively morning markets, and the Hida Folk Village, all rich in history and culture. In addition, regional cuisine centered around Hida beef, traditional crafts, and the beauty of the changing seasons make it a destination that captivates every visitor.
Access is also convenient—about two and a half hours by Limited Express Hida from Nagoya, direct bus connections from Toyama and Matsumoto, and roughly two and a half hours by car from Kanazawa. With its historic streetscape and exceptional Hida beef cuisine, Takayama is not just a place to pass through but a destination well worth a longer stay.
